A special thank you to brother Villar of WABC-TV. Al won the 50/50 door prize at the Membership Open House on 11 December, and immediately turned the money around as a donation to the Don DiFranco Scholarship Fund. How appropriate then, that Al should pick the 2010 DiFranco Scholarship winner - Kathryn Story, daughter of Kelvin Story, WABC-TV. Brother Story has been serving selflessly as the Field Safety Representative at WABC-TV for many years, ensuring a healthy and safe working environment for his brothers and sisters at Channel 7.

The scholarship was named in memory of WABC-TV Transmitter Engineer Donald DiFranco, who died in the World Trade Center attack on September 11, 2001.
